The deceased has been identified as Pradeep Dhar, a resident of Udharbandh Shalganga in Cachar.
Eyewitnesses reported that two young men were riding a motorcycle when the dumper struck them and fled the scene.
Tragically, Pradeep Dhar died on the spot, while the other rider, identified as Rajdeep Dhar, sustained serious injuries.
Following the incident, locals rushed the injured man to Silchar Medical College for treatment. Police arrived at the scene to recover the body, leading to a tense atmosphere.
Outraged by the incident, angry locals staged a protest by blocking the Silchar-Imphal National Highway, demanding the immediate arrest of the dumper driver responsible for the accident.
The blockade was lifted after police assured the residents of appropriate action.
Residents have expressed their concerns over the reckless driving of dumpers on this route, which continues to pose a significant threat to public safety.
