Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, alleges that Zubeen Garg was poisoned
Digital Desk: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the mysterious death of singer-actor Zubeen Garg has intensified its inquiry, summoning two prominent figures from Assam’s entertainment industry on Sunday, 5th October.
Actor Baishali Medhi appeared at the CID office in Guwahati, accompanied by her mother, after receiving a call from APS officer Moromi Das. Speaking to reporters, Medhi said, “CID officer Moromi Das had called me yesterday, that’s why I came. I don’t know anything else.”
Singer Meghna Borpujari, who had been a co-vocalist with Zubeen Garg over the span of about three years, also attended the CID headquarters. She too was summoned to record a statement by APS Moromi Das. SIT officers, Rosiee Kalita and Moromi Das conducted the proceedings.
Investigators are now awaiting a crucial viscera report, expected on 10th October , which Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said will be key in determining the exact cause of death.
This investigation has been clouded by unverified claims from Shekhar Goswami where he claimed that Zubeen was poisoned. The Chief Minister however, went on to explain that these are witness statements and not confirmed findings but that the police will confirm each and every detail objectively.
Sarma also emphasized the need for cooperation from Assamese individuals in Singapore, some of whom are believed to be key witnesses. “Without their participation, the probe cannot move forward,” he stated.
Restating that his government is determined to conduct a transparent and fair investigation, Sarma continued, this investigation needs to be comprehensive and impartial. Justice to Zubeen Garg can be achieved only by the cooperation of all.
