Suraj Tiwari received the 917th position in the civil service tests despite having disabilities in both legs...

Digital Desk: Suraj Tiwari aged 27, proved that nothing is impossible and everything is achievable as he valued success in the civil services examinations more than travelling the seven seas. Tiwari, who is a resident of Kaswa Kuravli in the Mainpuri district, received the 917th position in the civil service tests despite having disabilities in both legs and one hand. His triumph is a joyous occasion for his family and community.

Suraj was returning from college in New Delhi when he was involved in an accident at a train station on January 29, 2017. He lost both legs above the knee and his right hand at just below the elbow, leaving him bedridden and fully reliant on family members.

The disaster not only took away his ability to walk and write, but it also drove him towards depression. His family members saw it as their darkest period. But Suraj understood that the only way for him to shine again was through hard work.

Suraj completed his graduation and is currently pursuing an MA in Russian at Jawaharlal Nehru University. Suraj's hope was rekindled, but he resolved to shine even brighter.

During the uproar of the Covid-19 pandemic, Suraj began preparing for one of the most difficult examinations. He passed the UPSC written exam on his first attempt but missed the interview by a few marks. He cleared the exam on his second attempt.

Since the results were announced, his family and friends kept on celebrating his victory.
