Digital Desk: A student leader in Jorhat was attacked with a sharp weapon on Friday night, sparking allegations against the Pulibor police for inaction. Reports claim that the police have neither questioned any individuals nor registered a case regarding the incident.
The president of the student union expressed that no case has been filed at the Pulibor police station despite the severity of the attack.
The incident occurred during a clash between two groups over a minor issue. Chinmoy Bhagawati, Vice-President of the West Jorhat Regional Students Union, tried to intervene and stop the fight but was attacked with a sharp weapon. He sustained multiple facial injuries during the attack.
Chinmoy’s family filed an FIR at Pulibor police station on Saturday. The opposing group also filed an FIR regarding the incident.
CCTV footage from Research Tiniali, where the attack took place, captured the assault on two of Chinmoy’s friends, providing clear evidence.
Despite the availability of CCTV visuals, the Pulibor police has not registered a case, leading to strong resentment among the district student's union.
The union has warned that they will initiate a domestic movement if the authorities fail to address the matter promptly.
