Chadha's Supreme Court appeal against his indefinite suspension was postponed indicating that a positive development is anticipated...

Digital Desk: Raghav Chadha, a member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), had his ban from August 2023 lifted by the Rajya Sabha on Monday afternoon, calling it a "sufficient sentence."

The Privileges Committee found him guilty on two counts: one was intentionally and deliberately presenting false information to the media, distorting the council's proceedings, and insulting the chair's authority; the other was including the members' names in the proposed select committee without their permission.

"Shri Raghav Chadha may attend the proceedings of the house," Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankar declared following the motion's passage.

"I had to knock on the doors of the Supreme Court to end my suspension and go inside the Rajya Sabha to raise your voices again. My suspension expired today. Throughout my nearly 115-day suspension, I was unable to speak up for you, ask the government questions, or advocate for your rights. Furthermore, I was unable to obtain the government's desired replies. However, I'm relieved that my ban is over after 115 days. I applaud the Rajya Sabha chairman and the Supreme Court," Chadha stated in a video statement.

Following accusations of a breach of privilege from four Rajya Sabha MPs, notably Sasmit Patra of the BJD, S Phangnon Konyak and Narhari Amin of the BJP, and M Thambidurai of the AIADMK, Chadha was suspended.

They claimed that their names had been added to a select committee studying the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, without their permission.

Chadha's Supreme Court appeal against his indefinite suspension was postponed on Friday following a submission from the Rajya Sabha secretariat indicating that a positive development is anticipated.
