Digital Desk: Delhi's former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia's bail plea will come up for hearing in the Supreme Court tomorrow (July 14). Several bail pleas of Sisodia, who was arrested in February in the alleged liquor policy scam, have been turned down by the courts so far.
On Monday, a bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha accepted to hear his appeal. Sisodia has told the court that his wife is extremely unwell and hospitalized and has challenged the two High Court judgments that have denied him bail.
Last week, Sisodia had gone to the Supreme Court to seek bail in the cases lodged against him by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate.

The former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi has been listed as an accused in the case brought in connection with the Delhi government's 2021 liquor policy, which was later scrapped. The 51-year-old is facing corruption charges.
The CBI claims that liquor companies were involved in developing the excise policy, which would have resulted in a 12% profit for the companies. The agency claimed that a liquor lobby known as the "South Group" paid for it. Six percent of the intended 12% profit was funneled through middlemen to public servants, the agency claimed.
The Enforcement Directorate has also initiated a probe into alleged kickback laundering. After the policy was scrapped, the BJP claimed that the Delhi government reverted to the old liquor policy in order to cover up the corruption.
On the other hand, Sisodia has denied any misconduct. His party claimed that his arrest reflects an "attack on the governance model of Delhi."
