Digital Desk: Effective immediately, the evening ferry service operating between Guwahati and North Guwahati has been suspended. This precautionary measure has been taken as a result of the increase in the level of water in the Brahmaputra River and strong currents, which make the river very unsafe for passengers.

The Inland Water Transport Department has emphasized that ensuring a secure travel time for commuters is its utmost priority. Consequently, ferry operations within the evening hours will not resume with immediate effect. The river situation is being carefully observed, and only when it is considered "fully safe" only then the services will resume

Since the water level and current may change at any time, the suspension might last as long as it will be necessary. Passengers are advised to use other means of transportation and remain informed via authorized announcements in case of any changes on the schedule.
