On Tuesday, October 25, reports of the horrifying incident surfaced. A formal investigation into the matter has begun.

On October 15, her family buried her after performing the last rites. Her parents, Pandian and Nadia, found that her grave had been tampered with after ten days. When they became suspicious about it, they reported it to the police.

In response to this report, police dug open the girl's grave in front of representatives from the district's medical and revenue departments. They were horrified to discover the girl's head missing.

Police in Chittamur is looking at the issue from several directions. They are looking into several possibilities, such as if the girl's head was removed out of jealousy or as a result of witchcraft.

It is to be noted that the police also found some used gloves and a torch light near the spot where the girl was buried. Further investigation into the matter is under progress.
