Digital Desk: India's creator economy is thriving, with local YouTube creators annually contributing an estimated Rs 6,800 crore to the country's GDP and creating 7 lakh jobs.

"The creative economy in India is certainly growing," stated Neal Mohan, Chief Product Officer, YouTube and SVP of Google, while participating online in CyFy 2022, a conference on Technology, Innovation, and Society.

The Observer Research Foundation organized the event (ORF).

He claims that YouTube would not only allow creators to grow an audience but will also provide economic opportunity for them to start a business.

Because YouTube is an advertisement-driven media platform, it is a perfect platform, for all types of enterprises, particularly small ones.

"In terms of creative achievement and gender diversity, we have all major Indian languages represented on our platform. We have mechanisms in place to assist guarantee that the platform remains a safe and welcoming environment for both content creators and users "YouTube's Chief Product Officer stated.

According to Mr. Mohan, YouTube is a platform in which content creators from all over India always appear on the  top.

"It is our top priority to make it welcoming and diverse. Because the creator economy affects tens of millions of individuals in India, it is normal for governments to be concerned about what happens on these platforms "According to YouTube's Chief Product Officer.

He stated that major players, governments, and YouTube are responsible for ensuring that the platform is not exploited to disseminate misinformation.

"YouTube is a platform where people come to voice their ideas and perspectives on policy outcomes — our attitude to election integrity, disinformation prevention, and violence prevention is clear," Mr. Mohan added.
