A pall of gloom has descended upon Tamulpur district following a devastating road accident that claimed the lives of three young cousins from the same family late Thursday night. The tragic incident occurred near Khandikar on the Rangia–Nagrijuli Road, sending shockwaves through the local community.

The deceased have been identified as Juber Hussain (14), Majrul Sultan (18), and Sultan Ali (21), all residents of Chirakhundi village. Juber and Majrul were brothers, while Sultan Ali was their paternal cousin, compounding the profound grief for the affected family.

According to police reports, the fatal collision took place around 10 pm near the Khandikar railway line, falling under the jurisdiction of Kaurbaha Police Patrol Post. Officials stated that a motorcycle, bearing registration number AS01GU3702, was traveling towards Rangia when it collided head-on with a Bolero pickup van (AS01RC1884) approaching from the opposite direction, heading towards Nagrijuli.

The sheer force of the impact flung the motorcycle rider and its two pillion riders onto the road, resulting in grievous injuries. All three victims were immediately rushed to Kaurbaha BPCH and Swasti Hospital for urgent medical attention. However, doctors on duty tragically declared them brought dead upon arrival, confirming the irreparable loss.

Local residents and family members expressed profound grief, noting that the cousins were reportedly returning to their home in Chirakhundi village when the accident occurred. Authorities have initiated a probe into the circumstances leading to the tragic collision.
