The Delhi government has altered the hours when cargo vehicles can travel on key highways in the capital.

Digital Desk: Various goods vehicles would be strictly forbidden from operating on various Delhi highways during odd hours. The Delhi government has altered the hours when cargo vehicles can travel on key highways in the capital.

A gazette notification was issued following the approval of Delhi Lt Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena.

According to the notification, heavy and medium goods vehicles will be prohibited from operating on the Phirni road, Circular road, and Najafgarh stretch between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., while light goods vehicles (excluding three-wheeled vehicles) will be restricted from operating on the roads between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Meanwhile, between 12.30 p.m. and 8 p.m., all types of goods vehicles will be prohibited from operating in or near Karol Bagh, Sadar Bazar, Kamla Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Vikas Marg, Sarojini Nagar, Green Park, Lajpat Nagar, Yusuf Sarai, Mahipalpur, Rajouri Garden, Tilak Nagar, and main market sector 10 in Dwarka.

Heavy, medium, and light goods vehicles (except three-wheeled light goods vehicles) will be prohibited from operating on the major Nangloi-Najafgarh route between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., according to the notification.

It stated, "This shall also be indicated by appropriate traffic signs put up or erected at acceptable areas under section 116 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988."
