7 Indian and 1 Pakistani YouTube news channels have been prohibited under the IT Rules of 2021.

Digital Desk: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has banned eight YouTube news channels, one Facebook account, and two Facebook posts-old for disseminating false information on the country's national security, foreign relations, and public order.

The YouTube channels that have been blocked under Information Technology Rules include seven Indian and one Pakistani news channels.

Among those who have been blocked are Loktantra TV, U&V TV, AM Razvi, Sarkari Update, and Pakistan-based broadcaster News ki Dunya.

In a statement, the I & B Ministry stated that these YouTube channels had a total viewership of over 114 crores and were subscribed to by over 85 lakh subscribers.

According to the report, these channels were also used to spread bogus news about the Indian Armed Forces and Jammu & Kashmir.

The content was found to be patently false and sensitive in terms of national security and India's good relations with other countries.

The Ministry determined that the content censored was harmful to India's sovereignty and integrity, security, good ties with foreign states, and public order in the country.

With this measure, the government has restricted 102 YouTube-based news stations and many other social media accounts since December 2021.

According to the Ministry, the government is dedicated to providing a genuine, trustworthy, and safe online news media environment, as well as thwarting any attempts to undermine India's sovereignty and integrity.
