Digital Desk: On September 1, 2023, the Assam government plans to open three newly constructed medical institutions in the state.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) recently approved the three medical colleges in Nalbari, Nagaon, and Kokrajhar to begin MBBS courses in the 2023-24 academic session.

Notably, each of the three colleges will have 100 MBBS seats available.

According to reports, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the inauguration of the Nagaon medical facility, while Cabinet Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah will be in Nalbari. 

Similarly, Health Minister Keshab Mahanta will attend the opening in Kokrajhar.

Dhubri Medical College & Hospital was the state's most recent medical college to open its doors.
