The ULFA(I) cadre reportedly joined the banned militant outfit in 2018.

Digital Desk: A cadre of the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) surrendered before the Tinsukia Police on February 25 evening. The cadre, identified as Arunjay Bora alias Ujjal Asom is a resident of Tekeri village of Pengeri, Tinsukia handed over his arms at Ritukathalguri.

The ULFA(I) cadre reportedly joined the banned militant outfit in 2018.

A police official said that authorities were happy as Ujjal Asom returned to the mainstream. He added that the cadre had been trying to contact the police for a long time. Upon receiving the information through the police network, the Tinsukia police contacted the cadre and offered all possible help and measures for his surrender.

The surrender of the ULFA(I) cadre marks another milestone in the ongoing efforts to eradicate insurgency in the state and bring back former militants to join the mainstream.
