Digital Desk: Scion of the Tripura royal dynasty and leader of the Tipra Motha, Pradyot Debbarma, announced on Sunday that he will no longer serve as the party's chairman but will continue to be an "ordinary party member and warrior" instead.

Here is the announcement of his resignation that he posted on social media: Check out his post-

Debbarma had already requested solace from the party leaders during the Tipra Motha's first plenary session, saying that he was worn out and yearned to start a family of his own.

"I have been working for the Tiprasa people for the past five and a half years, using money out of my pocket. I'm exhausted right now... I have an ageing mother and I wish to start a family. Create committees and advance your movement under President B K Hrangkhawl's guidance, he advised urging the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to provide a "constitutional solution" to the demand for "Greater Tipraland" when they met in New Delhi on July 1.

Following the saffron party-led government's swearing-in ceremony here in March, he held this discussion with Shah and BJP President J P Nadda as well.

Notably, The regional party currently has 13 MLAs in the state's 60-member assembly, which is dominated by the BJP.

Debbarma accused the state administration of giving only a small fraction of the state's annual budget to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) area, which covers two-thirds of the state territory and is home to the tribals.

Tipra Motha won 18 of the 28 seats in the TTAADC election held in April 2021, and the ruling BJP is the Council's opposition.

The constitution of Tipra Motha was approved at the plenary assembly. Surprisingly, the constitution states that the party shall have a "president," but it makes no mention of a "chairman."
