Digital Desk: Richard Marak, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and a former leader of the youth Congress, was detained and arrested on Tuesday in connection with the violent assault on the chief minister's meeting with ACHIK representatives at the Commissioner of Divisions office in Dakopgre, Tura.

As a result of the attack, which took place on July 24, there was mayhem, many people were hurt, cars were set on fire, and significant public property was damaged.

When the important negotiations took place inside the CM mini-secretariat office, TMC goons and rioters attacked police officers and civilians, and Tura police stated that Richard Marak was allegedly complicit in the riotous activities. The assault represented a bold attempt to disrupt the talks and stir up trouble in the area.

Richard Marak was implicated in a plot to scuttle the negotiations and cause disruption at the gathering, according to the inquiry. His detention has sparked questions about possible political intentions behind the violent incident because he was a close adviser to the former chief minister and TMC leader Mukul Sangma.

Richard Marak had previously run for the South Tura constituency in the 2023 assembly elections against Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, but he was not successful in securing the seat.
