Digital Desk: A shocking incident has been reported from Pokalagi area in Tamarhat following the disappearance of two young children on Tuesday afternoon.

The body of one child has been recovered, while a search remains underway for the second.

The deceased has been identified as 5-year-old Yasin Sheikh, the son of Hashem Ali from Bherbheri village.

His body was recovered from a village pond during an evening search. However, six-year-old Sumona Das, daughter of Nirmal Das from Mathabhanga, Cooch Behar, is still missing.

Both families are labourers who had travelled to the region to work at the HIRA brick kiln.

According to reports, the children wandered away from the work site while their parents were busy at the kiln.

When they failed to return, a search operation was launched, leading to the discovery of Yasin's body.

Locals suspect that Sumona may also have fallen into the same pond. A rescue operation is currently being carried out by the villagers.

Despite being informed, Tamarhat Police has not yet reached the spot. This has left the brick kiln owner and the families in distress.
