 Digital Desk: According to investigators, two men were "on standby" to assassinate Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor from Udaipur, if the two who killed him failed. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) was granted custody of all four individuals until July 12 by a special court in Jaipur.

Kanhaiya Lal, 48, was assassinated on June 28 by two men named Riaz Akhtari and Ghouse Mohammad, who also recorded the crime. A second video that they later published had boasts about the murder and even threats against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The two individuals who were supposedly on standby—Mosin and Asif, according to the NIA—were taken into custody yesterday, while these two men were taken into custody a day later. The accused were attacked by a mob outside the Jaipur court, but the NIA quickly secured them in a waiting van to prevent serious harm.
