Two young men were killed on the spot in a horrific road accident on National Highway 27 near Moranjana, in front of the SSB camp, late yesterday evening. The tragic incident occurred when a speeding truck collided head-on with the motorcycle on which the victims were travelling, leading to their instantaneous demise.

The deceased have been identified as 28-year-old Sirajul Haque, a resident of Sourakara village under Kamalpur police station, and 27-year-old Tridip Deka from Naburka Dimu village. Both sustained fatal injuries in the impact and could not be saved.

Local authorities quickly responded to the scene to manage the situation and initiate an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. The incident has cast a pall of grief over the two villages, highlighting the grim reality of road accidents that frequently plague national highways across Assam.

This latest tragedy underscores the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures, stricter enforcement against speeding, and greater awareness among motorists to prevent such devastating losses of life on the state's arterial routes.
