Digital Desk: Popular Ukrainian singer Uma Shanti has been booked for allegedly insulting India's national flag during a performance at a bar in Pune's Mundhwa on Sunday night.

After a video of the alleged act was widely shared on social media, Havaldar Tanaji Deshmukh filed a first information report (FIR) at the Koregaon Park police station. Senior police inspector Vishnu Tamhane stated that Shanti and organizer Kartik Morein had been charged in the matter.

According to the FIR, Shanti, the frontwoman of the Ukrainian band Shanti People, danced with the Tricolour in both her hands and later threw the flags toward the audience.

Last week, the band performed in Bengaluru and Bhopal as part of its India tour. This was Shanti's second Pune event, after one in October 2022.
