Jowai: As per sources, two individuals in Maruti Alto 800 attacked truck driver Alak Das while sleeping inside the truck, outside Food Corporation of India (FCI), Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department (FSD), Jowai.
Both the individuals attacked the truck intending to rob the truck filled with rice. But, preferably, they managed to rob the truck and flee away from the incident.
The truck driver was later found dead five kilometres away from the place of the incident. The truck is registered under the number No.TR01AG1689.
One of the robbers is held under police custody. The arrested person is handed over to the Jowai Police station by truck drivers and Jowai representative Jesse Dkhar.
The deceased truck driver was carrying rice from the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and rest ahead of the robbery incident.
