Lucknow : Just weeks ahead of the impending assembly elections 2022, Uttar Pradesh has been witnessing an array of resignations from the ruling BJP party. Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet is witnessing a landslide resignation series in the past few days, as the party struggles to hold onto their bastion in UP.

In yet another setback to Yogi Adityanath’s BJP ruled government in Uttar Pradesh, the state Environment Minister Dara Singh Chauhan on Wednesday tendered his resignation from Yogi’s cabinet. On his future course of action, Chauhan said that he will be discussing with his community members and then look forward whether he will be joining any other political party or not.

"BJP formed the government in Uttar Pradesh with the support of Dalits, backward communities...but it didn't serve them well, which is why I resigned. My next step would be to hold discussions with my society people and then take a call for the future course of action," Chauhan said on resignation

Chauhan blamed the ruling BJP party of not dispensing their duties and responsibilities towards the Dalit community.

Rumours of Chauhan planning to join Samajwadi party has already got wind after Akhilesh Yadav tweeted a shared photo of him with Chauhan on Twitter and welcomed him into the SP fold.

Dara Singh Chauhan is known to be a popular face among the Lonia Chauhans, who belong to the OBC community in eastern UP.

Chauhan’s resignation comes a day after another UP Cabinet minister Swami Prasad Maurya resigned from office on Tuesday.
