Digital Desk: In Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, a man was taken into custody after reportedly provoking religious feelings by selling chicken on a piece of paper bearing images of Hindu deities and assaulting a police team.


The incident happened on Sunday when some individuals reported that Talib Hussain was hurting their religious sentiments by selling chicken from his shop on a piece of paper bearing a picture of a Hindu god and goddess, the police said.


Reportedly, the FIR stated that Talib Hussain attacked the cops with a knife with the intent to kill them when they arrived at his shop.


Talib Hussain has been accused under IPC Sections 153-A [promoting enmity between different groups based on religion, race, place of birth, or residence], 295-A [deliberate and malicious conduct intended to outrage religious sentiments of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs], and 307 [attempt to murder].
