So far, three people have been confirmed dead, with seven others injured. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police teams of Agastyamuni, Ratuda and Gochar soon came to the rescue and were able to save seven passengers. Nonetheless, the search to find the ten passengers who are still missing is still on.

The accident was confirmed by Police Headquarters, by its spokesperson, IG Nilesh Anand Bharane. Also to note, Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said that the area in which the rescue operation was being conducted has been full of strong currents of a river and difficult terrain.

Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami condemned the tragedy. In a post published on X (previously known as Twitter), he said, “Tragic news of a tempo traveler falling into a river in Rudraprayag district is deeply tragic. SDRF and other rescue teams are carrying out relief and rescue operations. I am all the time in constant touch with the local administration in this regard. I pray to God for everyone’s safety.”

Emergency teams are working tirelessly to recover those still missing, while the injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Local authorities are requesting people to be careful on hilly roads as the search goes on, and such accidents are more common in the monsoon season.
