Digital Desk: Officials informed on Sunday that the Kedarnath Yatra has been stopped in Sonprayag, Uttarakhand, due to heavy rain in the Rudraprayag area. "Until further orders and as long as the severe rains continue, Kedarnath has been closed," according to Rudraprayag District Magistrate Mayur Dixit.

On April 25 of this year, the yatra to the Lord Shiva temple got started. According to official data issued on June 22, during the current Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand, over 30 lakh pilgrims have visited Char Dham, and over 10 lakh pilgrims have visited Kedarnath.

UTTARAKHAND IS EXPERIENCING A HEAVY RAINFALL

As the southwest monsoon moved into the state on Saturday, it dumped a lot of rain in a few districts of Uttarakhand. According to the India Meteorological Department, Haridwar had 78 mm of rain in the previous 24 hours, followed by Dehradun (33.2) and Uttarkashi (27.7). For the upcoming several days, it is anticipated that the rain will persist in these places.

According to a news release, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a surprise inspection of the State Disaster Management Control Room at the Secretariat and obtained information about the severe rain situation in the state. In the districts where significant rainfall has been reported, CM Dhami gave the officials instructions to be prepared for any emergencies.

According to CM Dhami, he gave the cops the directive to remain always on alert for rescue and relief efforts in the event of a tragedy. In order to give the devotees a secure and easy darshan, he stated, preparations are being made.
