Digital Desk: The Guwahati Police on Sunday busted a known vehicle-lifting gang while conducting searches throughout the city.

According to reports, four auto thieves were caught today during a joint search operation by the police departments of Bhagadattapur and Bharalumukh.

The four suspects who were caught stealing have been identified as Junmoni Deka, Anuwar Hussain, Montu Barman, and Raju Das.

The accused, according to sources, stole a four-wheeler from Guwahati and sold it for Rs 1 lakh. When thoroughly questioned, the robbers admitted to doing this, according to sources.

The Dimapur Police, in the meantime, have started an operation to find the stolen car based on the statement of the offenders.

According to additional sources, the group had already been charged with multiple automobile thefts in Guwahati. Additionally, they may have stolen the OC's (Officer-in-Charge) vehicle from Pragjyotishpur.
