The members of the Electoral College, which includes members from both Houses of Parliament, choose the vice president of India. By using a single transferable vote, it complies with the proportional representation system.

A total of 788 members from both the Houses of Parliament are comprised in the Electoral College. Since every elector is a member of both Houses of Parliament, each legislator's vote will have equal weight.
