Along with thunderstorms, lightning, gusty gusts, and sporadic to very widespread rainfall, the state is predicted to see heavy rainfall on April 16 and 17.


Digital Desk: The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) said in a statement on Sunday that Assam will experience unrest due to a cyclonic circulation over North Bangladesh and its surrounding areas and moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal from April 14 to 18, 2024.

Along with thunderstorms, lightning, gusty gusts, and sporadic to very widespread rainfall, the state is predicted to see heavy rainfall on April 16 and 17.

·        April 14: Light to moderate rainfall in isolated areas, with a high probability of thunderstorms and lightning in isolated areas across the districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Tamulpur, Hojai, East Karbianglong, and Golaghat.

·        April 15: There will likely be isolated thunderstorms and lightning strikes across the districts of Baksa Nalbari, Bajali, Tamulpur, Kamrup(M), Darang, Udalguri, East Karbianglong, West Karbianglong, Golaghat, Sonitpur, Bishwanath, and Lakhimpur. There will also likely be light to moderate rainfall in certain isolated spots. 

·        April 16: Several locations may have light to moderate rainfall, with sporadic In isolated locations over the districts of Dhubri, S Salmara, Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Barpeta, Nalbari, Bajali, Tamulpur, Kamrup, Kamrup(M), Morigaon, Nagaon, West Karbianglong, East Karbianglong, Golaghat, Sonitpur, Bishwanath, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Jorhat, Majuli, Sibsagarh, Charaideo, Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia are all likely to experience heavy rainfall over Goalpara, Bongaigaon, Darang, and Udalguri.

·        April 17: There will likely be light to moderate rainfall in many areas, along with isolated heavy rainfall in Goalpara, Bongaigaon, Sonitpur, Bishwanath, Majuli, and Dibrugarh. There is also a chance of thunderstorms and lightning, along with gusty winds of up to 30–40 kmph, in isolated locations over the districts of Dhubri, S Salmara, Goalpara, Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Barpeta, Nalbari, Bajali, Tamulpur, Kamrup, Kamrup(M), Nagaon, West Karbianglong, East Karbianglong, Darang, Udalguri, Golaghat, Sonitpur, Bishwanath, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Jorhat, Sibsagarh, Charaideo, and Tinsukia. 

·        April 18: Over the districts of Jorhat, Majuli, Sibsagarh, Charaideo, Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia, there is a good chance of isolated thunderstorms and lightning, as well as mild to moderate rainfall in several areas.
