Digital Desk: Meta-owned WhatsApp is said to be working on an innovative feature that will empower users with more control over the security of their private chats. According to reports from WABetaInfo, the popular messaging app is in the process of developing a secret code creation feature that will enable users to customize passwords for their protected chat folders.

This upcoming feature will introduce a new page within the WhatsApp app where users can create their unique secret codes to secure their locked chats. Once set, these secret codes will provide a hassle-free way to access locked chats, even through the search bar within the application. Moreover, configuring a secret code will allow users to lock chats across all their companion devices.

WhatsApp suggests using a word or a simple emoji for quick access, ensuring convenience without compromising security. This feature is expected to enhance the overall user experience by making chat management more seamless.

Additionally, WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature that will enable users to synchronize chat locks across all their linked devices. This development promises to further streamline the chat protection process, keeping users' conversations secure and easily accessible on various platforms.

The secret code creation feature, alongside support for linked devices, is currently in development and is expected to be made available to users in a future app update.

In related news, WhatsApp is also introducing measures to keep channel creators informed about the status of their channels, especially in regions where content restrictions are imposed due to local laws. This move underscores the platform's commitment to transparency and compliance with regulatory requirements.
