As per sources, the notice mentioned that the railways will carry out an eviction drive in Naojan after many business establishments illegally encroached upon the land belonging to the railways. Reports suggest that more than 100 shops and business enterprises have been set up in the last four-five years in the alleged land owned by the NFR.
Surprised upon receiving the notice, a shop owner said, “Last evening the station master came and handed us the eviction notice. Although, a similar notice was issued four-five years ago, but now many shops have come up in this area. Where will they go now? In the last four years no action was taken on the part of railways. But this sudden eviction notice from the authorities is raising trouble for us.”
Meanwhile, the railways have given a 7-day deadline to the land encroachers to empty the spot, following which the railways will carry out the eviction drive.
It maybe mentioned here that earlier too the Northern Frontier Railways (NFR) have carried out eviction drive against illegal encroachment. Multiple houses and business establishments have been demolished that were set up on railways’ land or along the railway tracks.
