Hajo: Suspended forester Arup Baishya will be arrested soon after sources quoted Assam Police to have detected his location. The suspended forest official has been absconding since the raid conducted by the Hajo forest office at the residence of Baishya.

The investing team recovered two large assault rifles, huge quantities of ammunition, empty cartridges, net used for poaching, and other weapons from Baishya’s house.

The infamous forester was working under Range Forest Officer, Circle Checking Range, in the office of the chief conservator of forests, Central Assam Circle.

The suspended forester was suspended for his alleged role in poaching and other illegal anti-wildlife activities. The forest team had also recovered animal bones along with two endangered Tokay geckos, tortoise shells, wild boar teeth from Baishya’s home.

Earlier, the forest department had asked Arup Baishya to surrender before the divisional forest office in Rangia on November 10. An arrest warrant was also initiated under his name by the Assam Forest Department.
