Digital Desk: A shocking murder case has taken place in Borbaruah, Dibrugarh, involving the brutal killing of businessman Uttam Gogoi alias Cheng Kai.


The tragic incident occurred on the night of July 25, when Uttam Gogoi, was murdered by miscreants who later staged the crime to appear as a robbery. Gogoi was alone at home when the murder took place.


The Borbaruah police has arrested four individuals in connection with the murder, including Gogoi's wife, Bobi Sonowal Gogoi, his daughter, her boyfriend Dipjyoti Buragohain from Jamira Motok village, and his associate Gouranga Patra from Jamira Patra village.


During investigation, police revealed that the wife and daughter had orchestrated the murder. The mother-daughter duo allegedly offered gold jewellery and Rs 10 lakh to two hired killers to commit the crime.


Reports suggest that toxic substances were mixed into Gogoi's food, and once he fell asleep, the killers brutally murdered him by hitting him multiple times.


Following the crime, they stole valuable items from the house and attempted to appear the murder as a robbery.


The murder sparked outrage in the local community, leading to strong protests by thousands of residents outside the Borbaruah police station.


Initially suspected to be a robbery, the case unraveled into a chilling murder case as police uncovered sensational details during their investigation.
