Digital Desk: A wild elephant has been stranded in a deep pit at the PRP Valley Resort in Panbari, Chandrapur, for nearly seven days.

The animal, suspected to have suffered two broken legs, has seen its health decline significantly due to severe injury.

The Forest Department was reportedly alerted to the situation only today.

Upon receiving the news, officials and a team of veterinarians rushed to the scene to provide emergency medical care and initiate rescue operations.

The surrounding areas, including Panbari, Hajongbari, and Khamrenga Beel, are frequent corridors for wild elephant herds from the Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary searching for food.

Authorities believe the elephant strayed from its herd before falling into the pit.

Efforts to stabilise the animal and safely extract it from the site are currently ongoing.
