Digital Desk: The winter session of Parliament will commence from December 4 and will continue till December 22, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi announced today.

The winter session will be held in the new parliament and will consist of 15 sittings spread over 19 days, the minister said.

"Amid Amrit Kaal looking forward to discussions on Legislative Business and other items during the session," Minister Pralhad Joshi tweeted.

Three important bills that seek to replace the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), and the Evidence Act are likely to be considered during the session, as the standing committee on Home Affairs already adopted the three reports recently.

Another key bill pending in Parliament relates to the appointment of the chief election commissioner and election commissioners.

During the session, the Ethics Committee's report on the "cash-for-query" charges leveled against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra will be tabled in the Lok Sabha.

The winter session will conclude before Christmas and will be the last session of the parliament this year.

The BJP-led NDA government called a five-day special session of Parliament in September.

The special session was held in the new parliament building, where the government discussed the 75-year history of the old parliament building, which will be retrofitted to provide more space for parliamentary events and a portion of the old building will be converted into a museum to preserve the iconic structure's history.

The historic women's reservation bill was also passed by both houses of parliament during the five-day special session. The bill seeks to provide women with 33% reservation in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
