Digital Desk: In a horrifying incident in the Metuakuchi area of Barpeta town, a woman, identified as Jaymati Das, was tragically killed by a young man named Mukul Kalita.
During the horrific incident, the young man, a resident of Bamundi in Kamrup district, also injured Jaymati's daughter, Bhanushree Das.
As per report, Mukul entered Jaymati Das' house and repeatedly stabbed her, leading to her death on the spot.
Her severely injured daughter was rushed to Barpeta Medical College and Hospital for immediate medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Mukul was chased and caught by local residents. Some locals reportedly assaulted the attacker before he was taken for treatment at the same hospital.
Jaymati Das had been living with her daughter. The reason behind Mukul Kalita's horrific crime remains unknown.
Following this incident, Barpeta police arrived at the scene and had begun an investigation.
