Zoramthanga claimed, "The ZPM suddenly got more money in its hand before the assembly polls because it had already sold itself to the BJP.".....

Digital desk: Chief Minister Lalduhoma has been under criticism from the opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) for allegedly using funds from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to support the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) in the state election campaign.

Speaking at a rally on Tuesday in Saitual town, close to Mizoram, MNF Chief Zoramthanga laid blame on the Chief Minister, alleging that Lalduhoma had asked the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor, Himanta Biswa Sarma, for support before the elections, indicating a wish to join the alliance.

According to a national news outlet, Zoramthanga claimed, "The ZPM suddenly got more money in its hand before the assembly polls because it had already sold itself to the BJP."

Zoramthanga revealed that ZPM had pushed MNF to break up ties with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to facilitate its entrance into the alliance, which further strengthened the accusations.

Lalduhoma had declared his party's independence from any central coalitions and emphasized the significance of regional autonomy in the decision-making process.

Recently, tensions have risen between the ZPM government in Mizoram and the Central government, primarily due to the latter’s decision to abolish the Free Movement Regime along the Myanmar border.

As the first of the Northeastern states that border Myanmar internationally to pass a resolution in the Assembly opposing the abolition, the ZPM government has steadfastly opposed this action from the beginning.

Chief Minister Lalduhoma has already emphasized the difficulties a regional party faces in forging its autonomous course without siding with the Center.
