Digital Desk: The fourth hearing in the Zubeen Garg death case will be held today at the court of the District and Sessions Judge. During the proceedings, the accused are likely to be produced before the court through virtual mode.
The prime accused, Shyamkanu and Siddharth, are currently lodged at Baksha Central Jail, along with Zubeen’s brother Sandipan Garg and two bodyguards. Meanwhile, Sekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amritprabha are lodged at Haflong Sub-Jail.
The court is expected to pronounce its order today on the bail pleas of Amritprabha and Nandeshwar Bora. During the previous hearing on 3rd January , both the accused had filed applications seeking bail.
Meanwhile, prime accused Shyamkanu and Siddharth have appointed senior advocates to represent them and have engaged a team of senior lawyers from Kolkata. Similarly, Amritprabha has appointed senior advocate Anan Kumar Bhuyan, while Jyoti Goswami has engaged advocate Sadhan Kalita.
To conduct the prosecution in the Zubeen death case, the state government has appointed additional public prosecutors. A total of five additional public prosecutors have been engaged to assist the government counsel. In support of the prosecution team, Garima Garg has also independently appointed a lawyer. Advocate Pradip Tamuli has been engaged on behalf of the Zubeen family.
During today’s hearing, the court is expected to frame charges against the accused. In the previous hearing, charges were framed against Amritprabha by the court.
