When TobyKeith turned 20, Shore wondered if he might be the oldest dog alive.
Digital Desk: Guinness World Records (GWR) has introduced a new record for the world's 'oldest dog living' in Florida, United States. TobyKeith, a Chihuahua (dog breed) from Florida, had his record verified at the grand old age of 21 years 66 days. The Chihuahua breed dog is owned by Gisela Shore, who lives in Greenacres, Florida.
Guinness World Records shared the post on Instagram and captioned it as - "Oldest dog living - TobyKeith at 21 years 66 days old."
Shore adopted TobyKeith from an animal shelter when he was only a few months old, and Shore almost considered toby to be the oldest living dog when he reached the age of 20.
Gisela further said, "I was a volunteer at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue. One of the employees told me about an elderly couple trying to surrender a puppy because they could no longer take care of him."
Continuing with her statement, Gisela added, "I met with the elderly couple, and I was introduced to a tiny tan Chihuahua. They had named him Peanut Butter. I later changed his name to TobyKeith."
Shore revealed that her friends and family were thrilled when GWR officially confirmed the record. TobyKeith got a bath, his nails were trimmed, and he went for a car ride, she said, expressing her delight.
Gisela believes that healthy genetics, a healthy diet, and, most importantly, a loving home are the keys to his long life.
