Digital Desk: A massive fire broke out late at night at a garage located on Garbhanga Road in Lokhra, Guwahati, causing extensive damage. The fire completely gutted eight newly built day-and-night buses, reducing them to ashes.


The incident occurred at a bus body workshop named “NEW S S Motor Work”, where several new bus bodies were under construction and repair. According to initial information, the fire broke out at around 12 midnight. No repair or fabrication work was being carried out at the workshop at the time of the incident, making the cause of the fire unclear.


Even hours after the incident, the exact reason behind the outbreak of the fire remained a mystery. Upon receiving information from local residents, the fire and emergency services rushed to the spot, deploying 10 fire tenders to control the blaze.


Although the fire was eventually brought under control, all the buses inside the workshop were completely destroyed. The garage was reportedly owned by Sujit Singh, a resident of Punjab. Authorities are continuing investigations to ascertain the cause of the fire.
