Digital Desk: The sale of fake medicines in the name of life-saving drugs has been exposed in Guwahati. Acting on allegations of selling counterfeit medicines, a pharmacy named Joy Medical, located on Lokhra Road in Lal Ganesh near the Hanuman Mandir in the Odalbakra area, was sealed following a joint raid by the Drug Control Administration and the police.


During the operation, officials seized spurious medicines along with narcotic tablets that were stocked without valid documentation. Several records related to the illegal storage and sale of drugs were also confiscated.


Sources said the owner of Joy Medical, Bipul Malik, had previously faced similar allegations. The raid was carried out as part of efforts to curb the growing menace of counterfeit medicines, which pose a serious threat to public health.


Further investigation is underway, and legal action is expected against those found involved.
