Digital Desk: In a major operation against illegal cattle trade, police from Fakirganj and South Salmara seized 11 smuggled cows and apprehended three suspects in separate operations.


Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Fakirganj Police Station, led by Officer-in-Charge Arup Jyoti Rai, intercepted a group attempting to smuggle seven cattle from Assam to Meghalaya.


The smugglers, identified as Manowar Hussain (55), Abdul Aziz (50), and Azhar Ali (55), were caught red-handed without valid documentation.


Following their production at the Dhubri court, the trio was remanded to judicial custody.


In a simultaneous operation, South Salmara Police intensified their surveillance and conducted a raid in the Mutakhowa Char area, where they successfully recovered four additional smuggled cattle.


District authorities have reiterated their commitment to curbing illegal cross-border smuggling and maintaining a heightened vigil across the region.
