Digital Desk: A violent confrontation at No. 1 Kathpara in Rupohihat late last night resulted in the deaths of three suspected dacoits following a mob lynching.


According to reports, an armed gang of 10-12 individuals entered the residence of a local man, Mujjamil Haque Choudhury with the intention to commit robbery.


The situation escalated when residents raised an alarm, alerting the neighbourhood and prompting locals to pursue the gang.


While most managed to escape, four suspects were apprehended and severely beaten by the mob.


Upon arrival, the police took custody of the four individuals and transported them to Nagaon Medical College.


Medical authorities declared two of the individuals dead on arrival, while the third individual succumbed to his injuries during treatment.


The deceased have been identified as Sofiullah and Inamul Haque from Kadamguri and Azibur Rahman from No 1 Sonjuri.


The fourth individual, undergoing treatment at the hospital, has been identified as Rekib Uddin from Pub Lorirmukh.


A heavy police presence remains in the area as tensions continue to prevail following the incident.
