The rescue team ingeniously modified a metallic hook, attached it to Manila rope, and lowered it into the borewell. The hook engaged in the child's T-shirt after a few minutes and the rope was successfully taken out.

Digital Desk: An 18-month-old baby was rescued from a borewell in the Surendranagar district of Gujrat. The incident reportedly took place at around 8 pm on Tuesday when the baby boy, Shivam, was playing at a farm in Dudapur village, where his parents worked as laborers.

According to Dhrangadhra administration officer M P Patel, he fell into the borewell and got trapped at a depth of 20–25 feet.

Shivam was rescued by an Indian Army team on Tuesday night and sent to a government hospital for further treatment.

The Assistant Superintendent of Police had called Dhrangadhra Military Station, requesting assistance in rescuing an infant who had fallen into a small borewell in Dudhapur hamlet.

Meanwhile, when a Quick Reaction Team reached the spot, they found Shivam stranded at 25 feet in a 300-foot-deep borewell. The water had even reached the child's nose, but he was still able to breathe and his screams could be heard, according to a defence press release.

It may be mentioned that the rescue team ingeniously modified a metallic hook, attached it to Manila rope, and lowered it into the borewell. The hook engaged in the child's T-shirt after a few minutes and the rope was successfully taken out.

The rescued boy was sent to Surendranagar's CU Shah Hospital, where his health is stable.
