Digital Desk: In a shocking the incident, a 5-year-old minor was
tied with a rope and left to suffer on the terrace of her house in the
scorching heat by her mother for not doing her homework in north-east Delhi's
Khajuri Khas area, the police said on Wednesday after a video of the
incident surfaced on social media platforms.
In the video, shot by a neighbour, the minor girl can be seen
tied with a rope and squirming in pain, lying on the scorching terrace under
the hot sun.
As per the father of the minor girl who was punished, the video
was recorded by a minor boy who lives next door.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar Sain said that after
the video surfaced on Wednesday, and initial inquiries based on the information
available with the video clip suggested that the incident occurred in Karawal
Nagar. However, when the local police investigated it, they came to know that
no such incident occurred there, the DCP said. However, after
verification, the house's address shown in the the video was located in
the Khajuri Khas area," the DCP added.
The callous incident occurred on June 2, and the mother of the
the girl confessed to the police that she punished her daughter for not doing
her homework. "A case under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act
has been registered at Khajuri Khas police station, and further
investigation is going on," the officer said.
The girl's father, a tailor by profession, said that on June 2,
he had gone to get his bicycle repaired, and his wife and two kids – the
A 5-year-old girl and their 11-year-old son were at home. Per his statement,
he received a call from his father that his wife had given this severe
punishment to our
daughter and that he should come home and save her. However,
his father himself came as a savior for the little girl.
The father of the 11-year-old girl stated that his wife was
teaching their daughter, but as she could not finish her homework, she punished
her. He also said that his wife left the minor girl on the hot terrace
for about 10 minutes before his father freed her from the brutal
punishment.
