Subdivisional Magistrate said, "As soon as the situation came to our attention, we quickly arranged to hospitalize them from their homes in the evening where they are receiving treatment." He said that additional inquiry into the matter is continuing.

Digital Desk: At least 37 kids and a chef were admitted to the hospital on Wednesday night after allegedly eating lunch at a government school in the Pakaridayal subdivision of the East Champaran district of Bihar.

The incidence was confirmed by Pakaridayal's sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), Kumar Ravindra, on Thursday. He stated that up to 37 children from Rajkiya Madhya Vidyalay in Sishani village on Wednesday complained of stomach aches and unease hours after eating their midday meal in the local school.

Subdivisional Magistrate said, "As soon as the situation came to our attention, we quickly arranged to hospitalize them from their homes in the evening where they are receiving treatment." He said that additional inquiry into the matter is continuing.

Civil surgeon (CS) Anjani Kumar of East Champaran said that the pupils' conditions are stable.

"At first glance, food poisoning looks to be the illness's likely cause. We have kept these students under close supervision for a full day. However, the precise cause might be determined following the analysis of the food sample, according to the East Champaran civil surgeon.

Officials believe the edible oil used to prepare the meal was of lower quality than was thought.

"The cook had a hunch there might be a problem with the edible oil. SDM Kumar stated that the district education officer (DEO) is looking into the situation and that those accountable for the occurrence would face harsh punishment.
