An analysis of the data reveals that 90,288 candidates have been selected on average annually out of the two.75 crore functions acquired during the eight years. The percentage of individuals selected from the wide range of positions attained during the course of eight years ranged from 0.07 to 0.80 percent.

Digital Desk: Over the past eight years, there has been an unrelenting scramble for government employment, but less than 1% of those applications have been chosen. Only 7.22 lakh, or 0.33 percent, of the 22.05 million applications received between 2014-15 and 2021-22, have been recommended for recruitment to various Central Government ministries, the Federal Government informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, informed the Lok Sabha in a written response that the maximum number of candidates recommended for appointment- 1.47 lakh- was in 2019-20, the year prior to the full Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. A little more than 20% of the total 7.22 lakh candidates chosen over the course of eight years were picked in the year, which also saw elections for the Lok Sabha.

The overall trend indicates that fewer candidates have been selected for presidency positions since 2014–15, with 2019–20 being the lone exception. 1.30 lakh individuals were recommended for appointment in 2014–15, but the number steadily decreased in the years that followed, falling to 1.11 lakh in 2015–16, 1.01 lakh in 2016–17, 76,147 in 2017–18, 38,100 in 2018–19, 78,555 in 2020–21, and 38,850 in 2021–22.

In contrast to the 7.22 lakh candidates who were chosen for appointments over the previous eight years, the Center announced on June 14 of this year that it would be hiring 10 lakh people in "mission mode" over the ensuing 18 months. After PM Narendra Modi "examined the standing of Human Resources in all departments and ministries," the Prime Minister's Office made the announcement.

Singh's research also demonstrates that a total of 22.05 crore applications have been received since 2014. The highest number of tasks (5.09 crore) were completed in 2018–19, and the lowest number (1.80 crore) in 2020–21.

In response to a question from Telangana's Congress MP Anumula Revanth Reddy, Singh listed various attempts to increase employment, saying that this was the government's top priority. As a result, India's government has undertaken a number of initiatives to boost employment there.

The Manufacturing Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes were introduced by Finances 2021–22 with a budget of Rs. 1.97 lakh crore for a period of five years beginning in 2021–22. The authorities' PLI Schemes have the potential to generate 60 lakh new jobs. The authorities are using the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) to encourage self-employment. Under PMMY, micro/small business enterprises and individuals are given collateral-free loans up to Rs 10 lakh to help them set up or expand their business operations, the official said.

The other programmes mentioned by Singh include the AtmaNirbhar Nidhi for Road Vendors, which was introduced on June 1, 2020, to help road distributors obtain collateral-free working capital loans to restart their businesses, and the AtmaNirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana (ABRY), which was introduced on October 1, 2020, to encourage employers to create new jobs and restore jobs that were lost due to the Covid-19 pandemic. There were 59.54 lakh ABRY beneficiaries as of July 13 of this year, he said.

In addition to these, the Prime Minister's Employment Era Programme, MGNREGS, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, Deen Dayal Antodaya Yojana National City Livelihoods Mission, and numerous other flagship programmes, such as Make in India, Start-up India, Digital India, Sensible Metropolis Mission, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and City Transformation, Sensible Metropolis Mission, At
