Digital Desk: Four members of two families from Assam's Golaghat district tragically lost their lives after their vehicle skidded off and fell into a gorge in the Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday. Two others, including a 9-year-old, survived the terrifying accident but sustained serious injuries.


The deceased had been identified as Ranjit Chetry, Meena Chetry, Suraj Chetry, and Manoj Chetry. The incident occurred near 23 Mile at around 5 PM due to bad weather and low visibility.


According to police, the two families from Numaligarh of Golaghat district were on a holiday to Mayodia when the accident happened. The six people were traveling back home on Sunday when the tragic incident occurred.


The critically injured Harimaya Chetri and Rasni Chetri were rushed to the Assam Medical College & Hospital, Dibrugarh and they are undergoing treatment.


Roing Superintendent of Police Ringu Ngupok in a statement said that the incident was reported at around 6 PM on Sunday and a rescue operation launched immediately. He added that the vehicle lost control and fell into a deep gorge.


Further investigations are underway regarding the incident.
