Digital Desk: The United States Geological Service (USGS) reported a magnitude 6.6 earthquake off the Pacific coast of Panama on Tuesday, April, while local authorities stated there were no immediate reports of damage.

The tremor struck Chiriqui province, 72 kilometres south of Boca Chica.
Costa Rica's national emergency commission said that no damage had been reported.

A player fell to the ground during a local soccer tournament in Panama as the quake struck, and TV footage of the event appeared.

As the ground trembled and the stadium lights wavered, the game was called off.

The tremor registered a depth of 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) below the earth's surface, according to the USGS.

According to the US Tsunami Warning System, there is no threat of a tsunami as a result of the earthquake.
