The passengers said that no explanation for the flight's delay had been given to them.

Digital Desk: A Delhi-bound Air India flight was delayed on Monday arbitrarily, leaving some 150 passengers stuck at Chennai International Airport. On Monday at 10:05 a.m., the flight was scheduled to leave Chennai. Passengers were nonetheless left to wait at the airport's boarding gate.

The passengers said that no explanation for the flight's delay had been given to them. They added that the airline didn't offer them any substitute flights.

In a related occurrence, passengers on a Sunday Air India flight from London to Delhi were left stranded at the Jaipur airport after the aircraft had to make an emergency landing there owing to inclement weather.

When the London-bound flight was given the go-ahead to start its flight to Delhi after roughly two hours, the pilot objected to taking the controls, claiming constraints on flight duty time.

The airline in a statement said, "While the aircraft was waiting for Delhi weather to improve and take off, the cockpit crew came under FDTL, that is Flight Duty Time Limitations. Pilots cannot operate a flight once they come under the FDTL, as laid down by regulatory authorities. Air India accords top priority to the safety of its passengers and crew and strictly adhering to the operations regulations, immediately arranged a fresh set of crew to operate the flight."
