Digital Desk: The Kamrup Metro reportedly collected revenue worth crores of rupees through the sale of liquor on the occasion of the New Year.

According to the report, which was released on Monday, a total of Rs 4.80 crores worth of liquor was sold in Kamrup Metropolitan District on December 31, 2022, and Rs 3.21 crores on January 1, 2023.

The Excise Department recently stated in a report that alcohol consumption among Guwahatians has increased, with the city consuming 14282618.6455 litres of alcohol up until November 30, 2022.

A London Proof Litre (LPL) bottle has a volume of 750 millilitres and comes in a case of 12 bottles. One case is equal to nine bulk litres, or nine litres.

Between January and November 2021, the total volume of beer and liquor consumed in India was 76 lakh litres of IMFL and more than 66.32 lakh litres of beer combined.
